I am a fully qualified Music Teacher (Mus.B - Manchester, P.G.C.E. Music  -Reading) with over 30 years experience working in Secondary and Primary schools, and as a private tutor. I have taught all ages, from infant classes to adult education classes, my private tuition pupils ages range currently from 8 to 80!

I have full, enhanced D.B.S. status.

As well as helping people learn and play music for fun, (which is really the main idea!) I have also taught for Associated Board and Rock School exams.

I can offer lessons in Classical Guitar,  (which is my own main performance specialism), as well as acoustic, electric and bass guitars.

I offer Piano lessons in Classical, Pop and Jazz styles.

Additionally, I offer tuition for Associated Board Music Theory Exams to Grade VIII and support with G.C.S.E Music, A Level Music and Music Technology exams and coursework. I can offer help with exam preparation in Sight Reading, Aural Tests/General Musicianship, which are requirements for any instrument/grade.

I am asked regularly by parents and teachers to accompany pupils taking Associated Board exams on other instruments, please contact me if you feel I can help!

Lessons are usually one to one, although occasionally I will take two pupils at the same time if they wish to learn together!

Thank you for contacting us. We will get back to you as soon as possible

I usually find parents want to remain with younger children, (usually with a cuppa on the sofa in my teaching room!), while older students prefer to work independently - this is entirely up to yourselves to negotiate with your budding virtuoso!

I do expect all of my students to practise on their instrument regularly.  For this reason, I usually only confirm acceptance of a pupil for lessons in the long term when both I and the parents are satisfied that reasonable progress is being made. This confirmation is usually made within the first few lessons.

Please get in touch if you wish to discuss lessons further!
